Stage 1: Open Evening
Our Sixth Form Open Evening takes place in January, providing an excellent opportunity for all students to learn more about our Sixth Form including the courses we offer. We will attach further detail as the date nears.
Stage 2: Making an application
Current St John Payne Students complete two application forms in the Spring Term. The First Application Form will register students’ interest in our Sixth Form whilst the Second Application Form allows them to indicate the A Level subjects they wish to study. In early to mid-February, students are given an opportunity to meet with current Sixth Form students to gain a student perspective on our curriculum and the nature of sixth form study. External Students should complete the application form contained within the prospectus and return this to the school by the deadline, of which details for September 2019 entry will be published in due course.
Stage 3: Informal Meetings
Both current St John Payne students and external applicants will be invited to attend a short individual meeting with a member of the School Leadership Team to discuss their application. These meetings take place in March and April. Where the demands of A Level study have the potential to place a student under undue pressure that is likely to hinder their progress, we will explain our reservations regarding confirming an offer, and will support the student in accessing advice and guidance to arrive at an alternative choice. Successful external applicants will receive a formal letter confirming the offer of a place. They will need to let us know if they accept the offer at this stage. All current SJP students are offered a place in our Sixth Form providing they meet the entry requirements detailed in the prospectus and have demonstrated good behaviour for learning throughout Key Stage 4.
Stage 4: GCSE Results Day
Students who have indicated that they will be returning to the Sixth Form at St John Payne will need to confirm that this remains their intention by completing the Third Application Form by the deadline, for which details of entry for September 2019 will be published in due course.
External applicants wishing to accept the provisional offer of a place in our Sixth Form will need to complete the External Student Application Form to indicate their intention to accept the offer. The deadline for September 2019 entry will be published in due course.
Stage 5: September Enrolment
All students who have accepted their provisional offer of a place in our Sixth Form will be invited to formally enrol for their A Level subjects on the first day of term in September.
